Scillonian crossing calm with little wildlife- just 2 Manx and 1 Balearic Shearwater
St Marys all week; pelagic Tuesday 29/09
Weather: fine and sunny Saturday and Sunday, cloudy Monday, fine and sunny Tuesday, cloudy and dry Wednesday, then strong winds Thursday and very wet and windy Friday.
Birds: no megas; best a self-found Wryneck, a very vocal Wood Sandpiper and an approachable Lapland Bunting
Moths: nothing new; best was a pristine Clifden Nonpareil and 2 Radford's Flame Shoulder

Sorting out immature large gulls is challenging. Here are two images of a first winter Western Yellow-legged Gull. This is the first time I have managed to identify this species in this plumage. Most similar to 1st winter Great Black-backed Gull but with a less massive bill.
