There and back
Days 1, 2 and 20
On the journey to Penzance we stopped to pick up Ed from his family home in High Wycombe; where we were treated to delicious coffee, muffins and conversation with Ed’s mum and dad (Julie and Richard). We drove on to Whiteshill, Stroud, to pick up David and were treated to a lovely lunch and a chance to catch-up with my sister (Claire). Then on to Penzance, arriving at our bed and breakfast for the night (Menwithen Farm at Ludgven) at ~6pm.
Having checked-in we then headed out to dinner at Marazion in a pub overlooking Penzance bay – we all had fish and chips.
Up early for 6:30 full English breakfast and off to Scilly Parking, from where we were transferred to the harbour for the boat. Conditions were calm and the Scillonian III got us in to St Marys harbor by midday. On the way we saw 3 small pods of Common Dolphin, some of which were very close to the boat; a Manx Shearwater and a Great Skua. We also saw several Razorbill on the crossing and the only Sandwich Terns of the trip in the channel between St Marys and St Agnes. The Island Carriers transferred our luggage to Peacehaven without any intervention from us. We got most of the weeks' shopping and then took a taxi up to the accommodation.
On Day 20 we were transferred by Toots Taxi from Peacehaven to the St Marys quay and returned to Penzance on the Scillonian iii. On the way we saw ~4 Common Dolphin, a Sooty Shearwater, a Great Skua, and several Razorbill and Kittiwake. From the quay in penzance we were collected by Scilly Parking and transferred to our car for the long drive home - arriving at 00:30 on Day 21.
