Day 7: 24/06/2015 - West Weare & Charmouth
Visited Perryfield Quarry at Easton again in hope of finding the day-flying moth Four-spotted, but we were unsuccessful - possibly it is at the end of its first generation. Returned to base for lunch and a quiet early part of the afternoon reading. Then visited West Weare a rocky undercliff area overlooking Chesil Beach. The views were spectacular but we were here in search of Eudarcia richardsoni, again unsuccesfully. Finally we set off for Charmouth about 30 miles to the west for a dusk search for Morris's Wainscot. This time we were successful and found three in quick succession resting on the tall fescue grass on the clay landslips here. This moth is only found in a 25km stretch of the Dorset coast between Lyme Regis and Eype - but it is apparently plentiful here.
