Day 4: To Brown Pike above Scarr Head
Sun 12th July
Set off to do a circuit of the Old Man of Coniston by walking from Scarr Head to and along the Walna Scar Road (which is not a road but a mountain track) towards the Dow Crag ridge. The tops were covered with cloud and within half an hour we were in rain. By the time we reached the first summit on the ridge (Brown Pike) we had been walking for an hour with no visibility and the wind had picked up horribly. This was too unpleasant so we retraced our steps back to Scarr Head.
