Day 5: 27/05/2015 Abernethy Forest and Loch an Eileen
Packed up the car and left for the Forest Lodge in Abernethy Forest. On arrival discovered that I had the keys to the room in Carrbridge in my pocket .... oh dear! Did a loop walk through the pristene Caledonian pine forest which included some good views across the moors to Bynack More and Cairn Gorm. Succeeded in seeing both Scottish Crossbill and Crested Tit - but only managed to obtain some pretty naff photos. The first part of the route we took was the path from Nethy Bridge via the forest lodge to Glenmore - the some route we started out on yesterday but in the other direction (from Glenmore). Distance ~4km, Ascent ~100m.
Having taken the keys back to Carrbridge we headed a short distance south to do the Loch an Eileen circuit. We have done this several times before - this time in the rain. Nice walk, little wildlife on show, but we did find a Red-throated Diver.

Then on to Kingussie, where we are staying in a nice B&B overlooking the Ruthven barracks and the Insh Marshes RSPB.
