Glas Tulaichean (1051m), Carn an Righ (1029m) – 2 Munros
Setting off on the landrover track from Glenlochsie Farm on the Dalmunzie Estate (where we are staying), Andre and I cycled the first 2km along Glen Lochsie. Leaving the bikes where the track becomes steep, at the ruined Glenlochsie Lodge, we continued on foot along the track (Breac-reidh). Near the top a small cairn marks the point where we left the track to reach the trig point at the summit. That was all we were planning to do, but we had taken less than 2 hours to get to the top and Carn an Righ didn’t look too far away – so we carried on. First we headed NE towards Loch nan Eun, crossed a boggy area and then turned back W along the south side of Mam nan Carn. The ascent of Carn an Righ was strenuous and tiring but the views all around were good and we eventually made it – only taking half an hour longer than I had anticipated. On the way back we took the short-cut straight up the steep NW slope of Glas Tulaichan, which was very strenuous but much quicker, eventually rejoining the Breac-reidh just south of the summit of Glas Tulaichean. We were glad of our bikes for the last 2km of descent – even if we did get our feet wet on the stream crossings.

This morning I found the only new moth of the trip in the trap - Northern Arches. This is a nationally scarce species largely confined to peaty upland moorland of Northern Scotland.

Alison and went shopping in Blairgowrie and then had a scenic drive to Dunkeld, stopping briefly at the Loch of Lowes, Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve, where we saw an Osprey.
After returning to Dalmunzie, I took a short stroll along Gleann Taitneach from the cottage
