Moths
98 species were either light-trapped or seen as day-flyers. This is the highest number of species I have recorded in our October visits.
As for the last 2 years there were no moths new to me in my own or anyone else's traps.
Migrant totals are recorded below - the numbers show total number obtained in 20 nights of trapping / highest number for a single night and / number of nights on which the species was obtained.

Additionally, on a fine sunny afternoon in Pungies Lane 17th October I netted Stigmella aurella. This is the first time I have obtained a Nepticulid on Scilly and the first time I have obtained one anywhere in October. It is also the first record I know of of a 3rd generation of this species which usually flies in May and July.
There were exceptionally large numbers of Omphaloscelis lunosa (Lunar Underwing) this year: 1824/252/20
