Invernaver Circuit - 23/06/2021
Distance: 8km
A nice mixed coastal circuit with an ancient brock; a moorland crossing with heather, juniper and a lochan; dunes, beach and estuary. We saw our only Twite of the trip on this route.

On our way back we attempted to visit Rosal, one of the largest clearance villages on the Strathnaver Trail, but the signs to it had been removed and it was not clear whether vehicular access was permitted. Later in the afternoon I decided to explore this area by bike from Grumbeg. This was a good 3 hour cycle on the quiet roads along loch Naver and Strathnaver. I found the track to Rosal and followed it - after about 1km a sign was posted to say that the car-park was closed due to Covid - in such a remote location this was ludicrous. There is an audible display at the village, but it was not possible to stay and listen to much of it due to midge attack, and there was little to see to make a visit worthwhile. I enjoyed the ride.
