Scilly 20-27/08/2022
The Scillonian crossing on 20th was very good with ~1500 Manx Shearwater in 2 large rafts and a fairly regular passage to 1s and 2s; also 2 Storm-Petrel and fairly regular sightings of Common Dolphin. Stayed at Peacehaven, St Marys, as usual.
We visited at this time partly just to see the islands at a different time of year to usual, partly so that I could go on a couple of Scilly Pelagic trips and partly to trap a different selection of moths.
We stayed on St Mary's every day except Tuesday 23rd when we went to Tresco.

The major wildlife successes of the week were: a new UK bird for me - Fea's Petrel (see next page) and two new moths - Striped Hawkmoth and Ypsolopha vitella (see page after that). In addition the feeding frenzy of shearwaters and gannets, the dolphins that accompanied us for much of the 2nd pelagic and the landing and tagging of a blue shark were great spectacles.
