Carn nan Gobhar (992m)
Distance: ~11km; Ascent ~800m; Time 4h
After a very wet morning the weather appeared to be improving. Arriving at the car park at the Loch Mullardoch dam it was so windy I nearly drove straight out again, but as often seems to be the case the car park had the worst conditions I experienced. Having said that it remained mizzly all afternoon and I was soaked to the skin by the time I returned to the car - and this was my 4th Munro this week without a view from the top. The track starts on the clear 4WD track alongside the loch. After crossing Allt Mullardoch on a footbridge the ascent of Mullach na Maoile is largely pathless, steep and boggy. More bog in the beleach and then a rocky ascent to the summit of Carn nan Gobhar. Horrible conditions at the top so no lingering, turned round and retraced the route back.
