Moths118 Lepidopteran species were seen during the week either light-trapped or observed by day
3 Species were new for me: Wilson's Yellow Underwing and Pale-lemon Sallow and in the last trap of the trip - Slender Burnished Brass. A further species, Purple Marbled, I have seen before but not previously been able to photograph. |
Wilson's Yellow Underwing is a species that has recently been accepted as new for Britain, but has probably been overlooked as Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing until now. Now that its features are better understood I suspect it will be found to be widespread in the south of England.
Migrant and rarity totals are recorded below - the numbers show total number obtained in 26 nights of trapping / highest number for a single night and / number of nights on which the species was obtained.
