25th & 26th April - Lake Thetis & Yanchep NP
Lake Thetis was very close to our lodging. Here there are stromatolites - similar in nature to the thrombolytes we saw at Lake Clifton, but with a layered structure. We did a walk around the lake early morning and again late afternoon.
Later in the day we visited the coast at Cervantes and a little further south at Kangaroo Point - where sure enough we found a kangaroo. In general we saw far fewer marsupials on this trip than on our previous 2 visits to Australia.
On 26th we drove back to Perth, making a stop at the Yanchep NP ~ 40km north of the city. This seemed more like a park with kangaroos in relaxed pose on the lawns and a koala in a pen - but there were also quite a lot of birds around and it made a nice lunch stop.
Having returned our hire car, we spent the night at the Sanno Marracoonda airport hotel, Perth - ready for our early morning flight to Darwin.
