St Anton 10-17/03/2018
A fab skiing week with my brother Jon. Early flight Gatwick to Friedrickshafen and Ski World transfer to Chalet Monte Vera in St Anton. Arrived in time to get an afternoon of skiing on the first day. Weather was variable with a mix of snow, cloud and occasional sunshine and a bit warmer than ideal. Snow conditions generally plentiful but hard-packed on the higher slopes and slushy afternoons on the lower slopes. After overnight snow on Tuesday night, Wednesday was a blue-sky powder day and some excellent fun skiing was had. St Anton has some nice unpisted itinerary runs which were challenging but not too scary. Thie skiable area is large but not as well connected as the Three Valleys or Val d'Isere - (coming back from Lech you have to go down in a bubble for example). The chalet was comfortable and the 12 other people staying here were friendly, entertaining and good company during our meals and on the slopes. I ski'd Saturday, Sunday and Friday with Jon. Monday 7 of us from the chalet went to Lech with Angus - a Ski World guide. Tuesday Jon and I ski'd with Caroline, Helen and Emma. Wednesday and Thursday I ski'd with C, H and E while Jon had a day off and a day of lessons.
