Loch Rannoch (East Camghouran) - 12th-19th June 2021
The cottage at East Camghouran is in its own fenced grounds accessed via a private gated track from the road along the south shore of Loch Rannoch. It has open views over the fields to Loch Rannoch in which we saw Red Deer, Badger and Brown Hare; and a constant flow of birds birds to the feeders, mainly siskin and chaffinch. The access track passes through heather moorland and continues as a rough track through two further gates into the Black Wood of Rannoch (part of the Tay Forest). The weather was generally fine, though a bit cool at nights for good mothing. The only draw-back was the obnoxious neighbour, whose property is hidden behind the trees on the left of the image above. He owns the access track and the land around it, including the parking area for our cottage; and he made sure we knew it was his land and we had access by his consent; and gave every impression that he would prefer it if we were not there. He also owns a large playful friendly dog over which he has no control; and regards the access area and land around it as his dogs playground to do with as it pleases - including pushing me around and stealing items from my car.
13th June: we all did a circuit of Leagag from the cottage. It was a mostly overcast day but we saw Argent & Sable, Small Purple-barred (moths) and an Osprey.
14th June: Alan & I did a circuit of 4 Munros from Invervar (see next page) while Gaye and Alison walked in the Black Wood of Rannoch
15th June: Day of rest
16th June: I did a circuit of 3 Munros from Lawers (see separate page) - and returned to find a completely flat tyre due to a penetrating lump of metal
17th June: Alison and I drove to Perth to get a new tyre and had lunch out. In the afternoon I cycled through the Rannoch Forest.
18th June: We all walked from Rannoch to Corrour station; I did it via 2 Munros (see separate page); Alan did the first Munro and returned to Rannoch the same way; Alison and Gaye walked the 'road to the isles' and the three of us returned to Rannoch by train.
