On the night of Sunday 25th September we stayed in one of the new cabins at the Scilly Parking place in Ludgvan (near Penzance). This proved a comfortable experience and meant that we were on site for the early transfer to the harbour. We would definitely do this again.
The Scillonian crossing was distinctly bumpy but it didn't cause us any problem. Sea-watching was rather quiet except for a Cory's Shearwater and a few Storm-petrels that passed close to the boat - the Cory's was a new bird for Alison's British list.
As can be seen from the above diary, weeks 1,2 and 4 of our stay were very quiet for rarities. The weather was largely fine, warm for the time of year and we enjoyed walking around the islands.
