Creag Meagaidh National Park
Carn Liath (1006m) (Munro 112), Stob Poite Coire Adaire (1053m) (Munro 113) 04/08/2023
Distance: 18km; Ascent: 900m; Time: 6h
We have visited the lovely Creag Meagaidh NP on several previous occasions and made the ascent of Creag Meagaidh itself in 2014. Today we did the other 2 Munros on the Walk Highlands circuit. Having walked in horrible conditions 4 days ago we had been disinclined to walk in the hills with the tops covered, but today looked promising. We arrived at the car park with the tops clear. The path from the car park is well made for tourists over the first 2km or so and then becomes a more typical mountain path as it becomes steeper in the ascent of Na Cnapanan. When we arrived at the summit spur for Carn Liath the cloud descended, visibility became poor, the wind blew strong and surprisingly cold. We made it to the top and had just about made the decision not to do the ridge walk to the second Munro when the weather cleared, the wind dropped and the sun shone intermittently - so we continued on. The walk across the tops was easy going and we quickly made it to Stob Poite Core Adaire after a brief lunch stop with good views over the Coire Adaire corrie. The steep descent to the Lochan was slow going, but from there back to the car park was very easy going on a good path.
