Monday 9th January: a nice sunny day - we toured across to Thyon at the far side of the resort and found one or two nice runs. Unfortunately all the really challenging routes are closed due to insufficient snow. in the evening we formed a quiz night team with our eating companions Nick and Linda. We won - Nick was impressive with his knowledge of music and popular culture - my input was minimal. The prize is a private ski lesson for four, which we will do on Thursday.
Tuesday 10th January - it snowed all day. We toured across to Nandez and again had some nice skiing. Occasionally poor visibility made our technique even less impressive than usual. (Note to self: I swapped skis from Rossignol 163cm 75mm to a broader Head 163cm 88mm at the end of the day in preparation for the powder day we are anticipating tomorrow)
Wednesday 11th January: Beautiful sunny morning and the change of skis proved to be a good move. We found some lovely powder in La Chable. Jon retired at lunch time and I made the long ride (on chair lifts and gondolas) to Mont Fort, where I ski'd the challenging black run, and adjacent off-piste deep powder, a couple of times. In the evening we went out with Nick and Lynne for a bit of Apres-ski. We saw a band at a local pub and left when the young ones were getting a bit roudy. Had a very expensive burger for dinner.
Thursday 12th: This morning we had our ski lesson, which turned out to be just for 1 hour and not the 2 hours we had been expecting. Despite differing abilities we all learnt something and ski'd better in the afternoon.
Friday 13th: Much more snow and generally poor visibilty made the skiing more challenging today. We found some nice runs and had a long and enhoyable final day.
