Day 4 - Troodos mountains - 03/03/2023
Mount Olympos in the Troodos range of mountains, with a summit at 1952m, is the highest point in Cyprus. We travelled via the Asprokremnos reservoir and the F616 which passes along the Dhiarizos valley. Once at Troodos we did the Artemis walking trail which does a circuit around Mount Olympos. There was still plenty of snow on the ground and the ski area was still partially open, though we didn't see anyone actually skiing. About 5 of the 8km walk was through snow covered ground. I didn't think we had visited Troodos when we came to Cyprus in 2008, but Alison thought this walk was familiar and when we returned home we confirmed that we had done it before - though in the snow-free conditions of April.

There were lots of Chaffinch here and we also saw the Cyprus endemic races of Short-toed Treecreeper and Coal Tit.
We stopped to do some birding on the way back through the Dhiarizos valley and found a pair of Great Spotted Cuckoos
